Gian Majidi is a singer-songwriter based in Helsinki, a graduate of the World Music Master’s programme (GLOMAS) at the Sibelius Academy. His sound blends classical training with ’60s and ’70s pop and rock — an operatic voice paired with a gentle, high register that’s rare today.

The Band
Gian is the lead vocalist and composer of BaranBand, a Middle Eastern indie-pop group blending tradition with modernity. Together they released the album Mn Bo To — a record shaped by folk roots and contemporary arrangement.
His music carries the influence of a Marco Polo life: eight countries lived in, over fifty travelled. That movement, paired with classical training, gives his songwriting its unusual color, character, and originality.
